Firm Summary

Riesberg Engineering Company was formed in April of 2002. The firm provides design engineering services to numerous architectural and engineering firms in and around the Des Moines area. Other services and clients involve design-build engineering support for contractors and design engineering services for facility owners. For the most part, projects completed are located in Iowa. The firm is wholly owned and operated by Mr. Brian Riesberg, P.E., who is licensed to practice Professional Engineering. The firm has established mutual business relationships with other engineering and drafting firms to accomplish completion of multi-discipline projects of various shapes and sizes.

Experience Summary

Mr. Riesberg has a wealth of experience applicable to many phases of a project. He has worked in project design, construction, and factory production roles. He has completed work for small, medium and large projects. Projects have been completed from a variety of market segments ranging from light-commercial to heavy-industrial and utility. He has performed in project-management and owner's advocate capacities. This experience comes from 12 years of work at reputable firms and companies as detailed:

  • KJWW Engineering Consultants, Des Moines, IA - Mr. Riesberg managed completion of engineering projects for the firm, ranging in size from several thousand dollars to multi-million dollars. He served as a mentor and company expert for large power systems and associated equipment. Activities included training of younger engineers, management of client relationships, and costs and schedules for multi-discipline projects. Financial responsibility for projects included budgeting of construction costs and allocation of design resources. Marketing, proposal development, fee negotiations, interviewing and client maintenance duties were all performed. Markets served by Mr. Riesberg included commercial, industrial, institutional, and municipal segments.
  • Brown Engineering Company, Des Moines, IA - Mr. Riesberg served as the firm's Electrical Department Manager and was responsible for all the firm's electrical aspects of projects. Mr. Riesberg was responsible for management of manpower and budget, proposal, fee negotiations and client development. He completed detailed designs for multiple project types including, utility steam turbine/generator, municipal water treatment, schools, office buildings and numerous others.
  • Black & Veatch, Kansas City, MO - Mr. Riesberg served and was progressively promoted into a number of roles while employed by the firm. He managed design, procurement, and shop drawing review efforts of new power plant projects located in the United States, China and Indonesia. He worked at an Indonesian construction site for one-and-a-half years, fielding installation questions, explaining engineering designs, managing electrical construction material stocks, and performing equipment commissioning activities. Several detailed power and control system designs were completed on teams involving 5-15 electrical engineers and technicians. Numerous conceptual designs and cost estimates were completed in pursuit of new power plant projects. Projects were all $250 million and higher.
  • General Electric Company, Burlington, IA - Mr. Riesberg's first career job after graduating from college was to support production of electrical switchboards and switchgear. Training while employed with GE included professional seminars for power system design and coordination, circuit breaker and bus-bar rating fundamentals, NEMA control circuit guidelines and fundamentals. Training coursework included beginner, intermediate and advanced difficulty of topics. Production engineering, and customer interface were the framework for all activities performed throughout his employment. Mr. Riesberg also served as a computer programmer in creation of custom state-of-the-art production automation software packages.

Formal Education

Mr. Riesberg graduated from Iowa State University in 1990, with a Bachelor's of Science, degree in Electrical Engineering. He maintains professional registration by attending numerous professional seminars and continuing education courses.
